Zinnia String Quartet

The Zinnia String Quartet was founded in 2023 in Rotterdam during their studies at Codarts. The ensemble, consisting of Sonsoles Vallés, Darío Rodriguez, Miguel del Pozo, and Joshua Lind, began their ensemble journey under the guidance of Gijs Kramers. They also regularly receive lessons from Gordan Nikolić and Goran Gribajčević, further refining their ensemble playing.

During their time at Codarts, the quartet performed in various Talent Break concerts at De Doelen, being able to perform and reach wider audiences.

Currently, the Zinnia String Quartet is a member of the Nederlandse Strijkkwartet Academie, where they work closely with esteemed chamber musicians such as Marc Danel, Petr Prause, Luc-Marie Aguera, and others.

With a passion for musical growth and artistic collaboration, this dynamic young quartet is committed to developing their ensemble and embracing new opportunities on their musical journey.

Darío Rodríguez Ventura
Violin

Born in Almería, Spain in 1998, he completed his Bachelor’s Degree at ESMUC (Barcelona) with Yuri Volguine and Vera Martínez Mehner, and recently finished his Master’s Degree at Codarts (Rotterdam) under the guidance of Gordan Nikolic, Goran Gribajcevic, and Roman Spitzer. He has received masterclasses from renowned musicians such as Svetlin Roussev, Abel Tomás, Rainer Schmidt, and Aitor Hevia, among others.

In the field of chamber music, he founded the Nina Quartet, receiving coaching from the Cuarteto Casals and Kennedy Moretti, and participated in the Camerata Casals. He is currently a member of the Zinnia Quartet, with which he is part of the NSKA (Dutch String Quartet Academy).

As a soloist, he has performed works by Sarasate, Bach, Beethoven, and Vivaldi. He has collaborated with orchestras such as the Orquesta Ciudad de Almería (under its principal conductor Michael Thomas) and Phil Zuid, working with prestigious conductors and soloists.

Sonsoles Vallés Rodríguez
Violin

Sonsoles (2003) started her violin studies at the age of 7 with professor Fernando Ríus in CIM Padre Antonio Soler. She continued receiving classes with Alexander Detísov, emeritus professor at the Reina Sofía School of Music. She graduated with Honors, winning the Prize of End of Studies in 2021.

She is currently studying in Codarts University of the Arts, taking lessons with Gordan Nikolic and Goran Grivajcevik. She has received master classes with renowned musicians like Olga Vilkomirskaya, Polina Kotliarskaya and Ayke Agus among others and with ensembles, with Tilman Krämer, Marc Danel and Jonathan Brown. She is currently taking chamber music lessons with NSKA.

In 2024 she became an active member of Nationaal Jeudorkest (NJO) working with conductor Martin Sieghart and Antony Hermus and playing in halls like Musikverein Wien, Concertgebouw Amsterdam and Konzerthaus Berlin. Since 2025 she is a member of JONDE (Joven Orquesta Nacional de España) She is currently playing a 1912 Giorgio Gatti violin and an Albert Nürnberger bow kindly granted by NMF in 2024.

Miguel del Pozo Sánchez
Viola

Miguel del Pozo Sánchez. Born in Getafe (Spain) started his violin studies at Federico Moreno Torroba Conservatory. In 2022 he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Conservatory of Music of Aragon (CSMA) in Zaragoza under the guidance of Josep Colomé. After that, he moved to the Netherlands to do the Masters at Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam with Gordan Nikolic and Goran Grivajcevic, studies that were finalized in 2024.

In this period he discovered the beauty of viola in chamber music, and received viola lessons from Gijs Kramers and Roman Spitzer, in both individual and ensemble settings.

In the orchestral field, he performs as violinist, having played with the National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands (NJO) from 2022-2024, and with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, with whom he collaborates as substitute since September 2024.

In chamber music, he started as violinist with the Kintsugi trio with whom they earned the 1st prize at the 1st Chamber Music Competition in CSMA in 2022. Now, however, he is exploring the vast chamber music repertoire as violist, with his current string quartet (Zinnia Quartet).

Joshua Lind
Cello

Born in Jersey and raised in Spain, cellist Joshua Lind began his studies with Enrique Vidal Martínez and later earned his Bachelor’s degree at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Murcia under David Apellániz. He went on to complete a Master’s at Codarts University for the Arts in Rotterdam, studying with Herre-Jan Stegenga and Joachim Eijlander, and participating in masterclasses with cellists such as Jakob Koranyi, Leonid Gorokhov, and Pieter Wispelwey.

Joshua has attended international festivals including Les Arcs, MusicAlp, and Panticosa, where he worked with Xavier Gagnepain, Fernando Arias, and Pavel Gomziakov. As an orchestral musician, he has played with numerous ensembles in Spain and the Netherlands. He is currently the principal cellist of the Harmonix Orchestra and has appeared as a soloist with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Torrevieja.

He is a founding member of the Zinnia String Quartet, currently part of the Dutch String Quartet Academy (NSKA), and also plays in the Tacora Cello Quartet, which explores folk music through original arrangements.
